Serious DIYers who also are plantitos and plantitas, here is a video tutorial on how to print leaves on your accent wall for that biophilic feel.

The two things that are most important to remember when printing something like a leaf on your wall are:

  1. paint loading—don’t overload the leaf with paint so this is why we used a sponge instead of a brush,
  2. use clean paper to further press the leaf on the wall.

Seeing the leaf structure—such as the midrib, leaf blade, and veins—makes for a cleaner and more interesting effect. Find an interesting leaf to press on your accent wall. There are many leaves to choose from out there. You can also use more than one kind.

Accent Walls for the Plant Lover

#FromHousetoHome: Boysen’s Accent Wall Paint Ideas

We wrote the above post to show color palettes and leaf illustrations to brighten up an accent wall in your home. Unlike the leaf print, the images show illustrations of stalk flowers, monstera leaves, and a leafy twig. But if your illustration skills are not up to par, the leaf print is something that you can use instead.

The paint colors we chose are also very contemporary and warm. These colors would definitely look well in the favorite Scandinavian interior style. We’ve chosen colors that would look good with the white walls of the usual Scandi interiors.

The Reason for an Accent Wall

Accent walls have been around for many years now, and there are some interior designers who think this is now passé. However, many designers still use accent walls for the following reasons:

  1. It is a great focal point in a room. Having an interesting color or image on the wall can make it a conversation piece.
  2. If you want to give the illusion of depth, use a darker color because this makes the wall seem to move back, so it gives the room feel more spacious.
  3. Different wall paint colors can demarcate different areas in an open space.

If you have an accent wall, just make sure that this becomes part of a whole, and does not look like it’s “floating”. For a cohesive look, a good tip is to choose the colors of your accent wall well. Read about color schemes to help you make an accent wall that coheres with the rest of the room.
