Always Mix Boysen Plexibond with Portland Cement
Plexibond is not a stand-alone product. You have to mix it with portland cement. You can use it on your roof decks and firewalls, on the side of the wall where the water pressure comes from. Do NOT apply it on a surface which has been previously painted. Click on the second link above on the Do’s and Don’ts of Plexibond.

Where Do You Use Boysen Plexibond
There are the common surfaces where you can use Plexibond: firewall, roof deck, ledge/canopy, concrete gutter, parapet wall.
Some people have asked us if they can use this product in their swimming pools or ponds. The answer is a resounding NO.
You cannot apply Plexibond over a painted wall. The reason is because the mixture of acrylic polymer (Boysen Plexibond) and cement weighs heavier than the usual coating. Therefore, it needs a bare and sturdy surface to adhere to. So if you want to apply this product on a wall for waterproofing purposes, you must first scrape of the existing paint and do a proper surface preparation. How? Click this link to know about how to prepare already painted concrete surfaces. You may find when you click the link that there are more things you can learn, especially if you have problem walls. However, if you follow the instructions, you will be able to achieve an excellent finish to a surface that you want waterproofed.
Use a Topcoat
For maximum durability, the application of topcoat is recommended. Boysen offers a wide range of products that is suitable as a topcoat to Boysen Plexibond.
Aside from added durability, the next best thing about being able to apply a topcoat is that you can choose a color that you’d like your surface to have. You are not limited to a grey hue.
Waterproof Your Homes
There you go, homeowners. Get your homes ready for the rainy season now.
Personally, I would call professional painters to do this whole process. That’s because I don’t want to over-extend myself. Just give me the responsibility to choose and apply the topcoat.
But maybe you are more ambitious than I am. In which case, give it your best shot. And if you hit some snags, just give our Technical Team a call directly so that you can have your answers quickly. They can be reached at (02) 8363-9738 local 417 to 418 during office hours.
