There’s a cyclical trend that’s becoming apparent in home accessories, and that is the use of animal print, mostly in fabric. Some call it the Wild Side.

Animal Prints in Fashion

Animal prints began to get popular in the 1930s, when the Hollywood movie “Tarzan” came out in theaters worldwide. The popularity seems to come up every decade, with the use of spotted cat prints in coats through the 1930s and 1940s. In the 1950s, Dior became obsessed with the leopard print. Giraffe and zebra prints came out in the 1960s. Apparently, the hippies liked the wild and free look, very much in keeping with the freedom and individualistic counterculture. The 1970s and 1980s saw the proliferation of the leopard and cheetah spots, with the addition of zebra and snakeskin prints. The leopard print continued its popularity in the 1990s. And in the 2000s, the animal prints also became known as Y2K prints.

Now the Wild Side is back, if it ever really went out of style. It creates an adventurous and exciting look that can’t be ignored. The power of the graphic patterns really stand out. It doesn’t matter if it is just a small lampshade or a lone throw pillow cover.

Not every homeowner or home can carry it off. You’ve got to love the bold print, and you’ve got to have that boldness yourself, or a rebellious streak to break away from the minimalist look.

Paint Palette

This Wild Side look goes well with any of the nine different finishes of our Konstrukt Lunar Series. The textured industrial cement finish is still very much loved by homeowners today. Animal prints can soften the look and make the room look more organic.

Kaza is our recommended finish because of its linear design. Please note, however, that the Konstrukt line is not a DIY product. You would need a trained professional to achieve the perfect Kaza faux finish.

There are other paint colors that you could use with this finish. But we opted for these three dark shades—Alpha Male, Natchez, and Pretty Parasol—to achieve striking and eye-catching interiors.

Wild Side vs. Calm Decor

Since the year began, we’ve been talking about calm and serene interiors to help you meet the transitions, changes, and even chaos, that 2025 is supposed to bring. Hence, we came up with this post.

Paint Colors That Will Help You Embrace Calmness This 2025

Should you go with animal prints or cooler colors that embrace calmness? It’s totally up to you, the homeowner. Your home, your rules. The best thing this blog can do is to provide you creative ideas to help you come up with the home you deserve.

What I love is that there are no wrong or right paths. Whether you turn left or right, it’s all good. Just keep walking…on the wild side or not. The worst thing you can do is to stand still.
