If you visited the Boysen booth in the different trade exhibits this year held in Manila, Cebu, Davao, Pampanga, and Iloilo, you may have noticed in some of them huge murals being painted by visitors using the colors of this year’s Boysen Color Trend Ascension. The murals are 3.4 meters in width and 2 meters in height. Many of our guests need a step stool to reach the upper portions.
This mural concept called the Boysen Color Stories was introduced in 2019. Each of the four Boysen Color Trend palettes of the year were creatively interpreted by four artists into murals. It was brought back in 2022 and now again in 2024. It is really a crowd pleaser. People get the chance to color the huge illustrations, and at the same time experience the paint palettes up close.
This is the third in four posts that gives a glimpse of the artist behind the mural and her creative process.
The Artistry Palette Mural
The Artistry color palette is made up of bright, joyous pastel colors that welcome play, fun, and laughter. The palette also brings to mind similar pastel colors that are used in small and kitchen appliances. It’s a retro vibe from the 50s style.
Pastels can really brighten up interiors as you can see from this post.
Almira Tenioso was responsible for making the mural for this color palette. Here is the Q&A.
What were your thoughts when you were assigned the Artistry color palette?
NOTES TO SELF, mostly, although I feel that this could be relevant to many people.
To me, the Artistry color palette is about not giving up on our creativity. There are a lot of factors that may hinder us to make art, like life responsibilities—day job and bills, also growing up and growing old. Keeping even a tiny bit of self-expression is very important. Never let it die out. We never know when our creative juices will flow again. The muted and popping colors show this like a non-linear progression of our creativity.
Artistry makes me feel that life is fleeting, but it is also freeing.
What do you feel about the colors in your assigned palette?
It’s very hip. Younger people would totally dig it.
The Artistry palette feels calming because of the soft colors. My favorite is Camp Pink. I just love anything pink. My favorite color combo is Camp Pink and Fearless. I would use that for my room.
Describe your creative process.
I thought about the keywords first. Then, I gathered images from photo banks and Pinterest. I also got inspiration from other artists’ artworks/illustrations. I then did a thumbnail of the whole layout before I sketched in the details.
Layout was a priority to me. I wanted to make sure that the Artist and his old self (which was the theme of the video) are in the center, and that they are surrounded by their creations and symbols of their imagination.
Have you seen your design in the mural size?
Not yet. I did see the other two designs (Awakening and Alchemy) and I’m very excited to see mine.
I hope visitors to our booth will enjoy painting our designs and appreciate this new color trend.
Based on only the colors, what is your favorite color palette for Boysen Color Trend 2024-2025?
I like the boldness and the rich colors of Abundance. It feels so alive. It would be so much fun to use in an illustration.
The Artistry Mural
Move the slider to the left and to the right to see the full black and white, as well as the colored, artworks.
This has not yet been shown in any of the Boysen exhibitions, but it is definitely slated to be shown this year.
What is exciting about having the mural is that visitors to the booth follow their own aesthetics when they paint the artwork, not following the way the artist used the colors. In fact, Almira herself changed the use of colors too while she was creating the mural. The final artwork has gray, and not yellow, as the primary color.
Based on our experience, most people visiting the booth and coloring the murals do not know each other but still they seem to work together because the painted mural at the end of the exhibition looks great.
If ever you see our murals in a Boysen booth in upcoming exhibitions, don’t hesitate to approach us and pick up brush and paint. It is a relaxing activity, and can help you catch your breath as you go around the big hall.

Almira Tenioso
Almira and I began the blog together on February 14, 2017, and we are still at it. A primary task in maintaining a blog is publishing fresh content. There have been times when we were both stressed with meeting deadlines, and regularly refreshing it with new things.
Other people have joined us along the way. We’ve been blessed with writers, graphic designers and video teams that add their own skills and talents to make Let it B what it is today.
When I asked her if she enjoyed this project, Almira said, “At first I did not because of the deadline hahahaha. I’m happy with the end result though. It made me believe in myself again and like Artistry, I could trust myself again with my art.”
