In these times, the need for a home office is real for those who work from home, and so is a home school for children who are doing online learning. For the latter, get a board and simulate the atmosphere of a classroom. Students who want to practice their calculations or parents who tutor their kids may find this useful to have in the home school.

Boysen Schoolboard Slating Paint

Do you want to install this kind of board in your home? There is no need to buy one.  All you need to do is to paint a wall with Boysen Schoolboard Slating Paint. But be prepared to expect that this blackboard is a green board because this special paint comes only in the color #655 which is green.

This specialty paint can be used only for metal and wood surfaces.

A School Board for Creative Kids

“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” That’s a quote from Pablo Picasso.

How many of you have come home to find your once-pristine walls now covered with your child’s masterpiece? I have a grandchild who does exactly that. The walls in his house are now covered with paint and pen marks, and a smudge of crayon here and there. There are also nicks and dents from toy hammers, drills and screwdrivers that have been used by an enthusiastic and energetic toddler. But luckily the adults just give him free rein to express himself.

Having one wall in the house for a child’s artistic creations may be helpful for training about boundaries while encouraging the child to experiment. Get some non-toxic chalk in many colors.

This may be a way to nurture the artist in your child.

Adults can also have a chalkboard for themselves, just like Alex who made her own chalkboard calendar. Click on this link to watch her DIY video.

There are many other uses for a school board wall in the house. Moms and Dads, think of having one in the kitchen. Instead of cluttering your fridge with notes, you can have a wall where you can write down the family’s sked for the week, special dates, or even your grocery list. Save paper and use this board instead.

Painting Process for the Boysen Schoolboard Slating Paint

As mentioned above, this specialty paint can be used only for metal and wood surfaces. The first thing to do like all painting projects: you have to prepare the surface very well.

In Filipino homes, metal walls are rare. I haven’t seen one at all actually. So let’s talk about wooden walls.

Prepare the surface first. Read The Boysen Way: Wooden Walls. Don’t skip this step. This is the basis for an excellent painting job.

Second, follow Boysen’s procedure of PRIME, PUTTY, and PAINT, using the products listed below:

PRIMER (First Coat): Flatwall Enamel #800
PUTTY: Plasolux Glazing Putty #311
PAINT (Topcoat): Schoolboard Slating Paint #655

If you have doubts or questions on how to go about painting your wall with this specialty product, please call our Technical Team at (02) 8363-9738 local 417 to 418 during office hours. They are a very helpful and friendly bunch. But if you’re shy, then send an email to ask@myboysen.com.
