Repainting your home interiors but can’t decide on the wall colors? Well, you can always take a cue as to what’s most loved by everyone else. A survey conducted by Zillow, an online real estate marketplace company, revealed the wall colors that were most popular to homebuyers.
The survey was done with the purpose of helping homeowners increase the value of their homes. However, we think it also provides good insight as to what wall colors are most popular for different rooms in a home. So, without further ado, here are room color inspirations based on the survey results.
Bathroom: Light Blue
“Light blue was by far the most popular color for a bathroom,” says Zillow. Per results of the survey, participants were prepared to pay more for a home with a bathroom in blue compared to all the other 15 colors tested. Other favored colors for bathrooms include neutral and delicate hues. The least favored were colors in bright shades.
Blue evokes serenity, peace, and relaxation—just the thing you want in a bathroom. For bathrooms on the smaller side, it can also make a space appear larger and roomier. Pair with warm accents for a cozier feel.
Kitchen: White
For the kitchen, white is the most popular choice for those looking to buy a home. Off-white and light yellow were also top contenders as well as darker hues like gray, dark green, and dark red, according to the results of the survey. On the other hand, bright red and bright yellow were least liked.
White is a classic and timeless color for a kitchen. It lends itself well to a wide range of interior design styles—everything from modern to rustic—and gives the space a clean look. What’s more, as white is a neutral color, it will pair with whatever color of plates, cutlery, appliances you have.
Living Room: Gray
For living rooms, gray was the favorite. This is followed by white, dark gray, and light green. “As in other rooms, neutral and lighter tones tend to do well in a living room,” says Zillow.
Maaliwalas spaces are popular with Pinoy homeowners. We want our home to look and feel airy and bright! A good alternative to whites and off-whites are grays which can bring more depth and visual interest. It’s something that works especially well in a living room where you entertain guests. Find the right shade of gray and you’ll end up with a cozy room compared to if you chose stark white.
Bedroom: Dark Blue
For bedrooms, “the majority of those surveyed saw potential in dark blue,” says Zillow. “Other good options are dark and light neutrals to help create the vibe of a relaxing at-home getaway.” And, as you may have expected, bright colors ended up in last place.
Dark blue evokes sceneries of clear night skies and deep calm oceans. No wonder it’s an attractive color for bedrooms to homebuyers. Dark blue promotes tranquility and makes for a conducive environment for drifting off to sleep. Something to try: balance and uplift dark blue colored walls with gold tones.
