Behind every company that participates in exhibitions, do roadshows, or set up stands in public places, is a team that toils under pressure to make sure that when an exhibit opens or an event begins, everything is in order. They see to it that the lights are on and the set design is on point so that when the curtain comes up, the characters on stage—Marketing, Sales, and Technical teams—are ready to face the visitors and present the company’s products and services as best they can to the customers.
The crew behind the scenes that makes this happen every time are the event personnel. They manage logistics, processes, and suppliers to make sure that the brand is shown in the best light vis-à-vis the strategy and messages that have been agreed upon internally, as well as to meet the deadline.
When it’s show time, it’s show time.
In the most recent exhibition Philconstruct Mindanao 2024 in Davao, two seasoned go-getters Magic and Aiza made certain that Boysen showed its best face forward when the exhibition opened. They had a lot of logistical challenges because of the bad weather in Manila, where things had to be shipped from. Internal discussions brought about a pivot in the plans, which had been set more than a month in advance.
In event management, when time is of the essence, Murphy’s Law usually happens—Anything that can go wrong will go wrong. Flexibility is key when you’re on the ground, and I’d add patience, resourcefulness, and level-headedness to that.
Color Stories in Philconstruct Mindanao 2024
Despite Murphy’s Law at work, Philconstruct Mindanao 2024 went with hardly a hitch, or so it seemed to the many guests that Boysen personnel welcomed into the booth.
There was the traditional setup of having an area where Sales, Marketing, and Technical could meet clients to discuss the many products that Boysen carries. At center stage, Color Stories saw a considerable amount of foot traffic. Hundreds of people visited to check out the four murals and to paint them using the four paint color palettes of the latest Boysen Color Trend 2024-2025 with the concept Ascension.
When the doors opened on Day 1, there were four black and white murals that attracted many attendees. Move the slider of the images below to the right to see the colored mural as originally envisioned by the artist, and then to the left to see how it looked after the guests painted them on the final day when the doors closed.

Boysen used the Color Stories concept in the past. Our experience is that the murals painted by our visitors look so good, and the results in Davao were no exception. It is quite surprising because most of them don’t know each other but they feed on each other’s work. In the end, we see how good the colors in a palette look even if they are combined in different ways.
Interactive Boysen Exhibition Booths
Boysen has had several interactive booths, starting with Color Lab in 2016 (painting swatchsicles), Color Play in 2017 (painting different forms of wooden blocks and using Virtual Reality glasses to see room sets), Color Perspectives in 2018 (immersion in different rooms), Color Stories in 2019, which we’ve brought back this year.
Interactivity brings in many guests to the booth because they not only look and see, but also get up close and personal with the paints. While specifiers head to the more traditional areas where they can talk about their project needs to our Sales, Marketing, and Technical teams, it’s usually the end users that love to participate in the interactive activities. They come in all shapes and sizes, ages and interests. What binds them together is curiosity and the need to express their creativity. They connect through colors.
Davaoeños seemed to be shy and wanted to remain anonymous, as observed by Magic and Aiza. But a few of them gave some feedback.
- good activity (Alchemy), kahit anong age. mapa bata or matanda, nakakaenjoy
- very vivid yung colors (Abundance) at ang saya dahil very interactive
- relaxing colors (Artistry) bagay sa living room, specially yung parang light blue (referring to Daydream)
- refreshing ang colors, like yung pastel colors (Artistry). If gagamitin sa house pwede sa room ng anak na babae
- thank you na nabigyan ng opportunity to paint, maganda yung colors (Awakening)
- thank you sa experience, masaya (Abundance)
- vibrant, playful, trendy aesthetic (Artistry)
- nakakawala ng stress, calming, nalabas ang creativity (Artistry)
- among sa 4 na themes, ang favorite ko is Abundance dahil inviting ang colors and parang yung message ng artwork is “keep going, there is more to life”
- na curious ako kung saan galing at kung papaano na buo ang concept ng Color Trend (brochure)…ang ganda, pati yung colors kung papano nag come together, yung mga designs ng artwork and yung mga symbols sa brochure.
