Can’t find the paint color you want on the shelves? Hope is not lost. Boysen Acrytex is only readily available in white but here’s how you can get it in other colors.

What is Acrytex

Boysen Acrytex is an acrylic, solvent-based paint product. Popular for use on exteriors, it is known for its long-term durability and weatherability. You might know it from the Preso commercials!

Why Choose Acrytex for Your Home

Exceptionally durable and watertight, Boysen Acrytex is a sought-after product for home exteriors. As its iconic song goes, “umaraw man o uulan, di sasablay.

What makes it durable? Boysen Acrytex adheres firmly to the surface it’s painted on making it unlikely that you’ll see it crack, flake, peel, yellow, or discolor. It will be a long while before you see it aging.

What makes it watertight? When applied, Boysen Acrytex creates a non-porous film that can repel water and prevent seepage. This gives your home protection from heavy downpours. Easy to maintain, you can easily wash away dirt and stains from it too.

Take note though. Boysen Acrytex is recommended for use on new concrete or concrete previously painted with Boysen Acrytex. It is not recommended for application over oil-based and water-based coatings.

How to Get Acrytex in Other Colors

Boysen Acrytex is only readily available in white. Yes, you can’t buy it in hardware stores and home depots in any other color. But, don’t fret, there is a way to achieve other, more exciting, hues—Boysen Acrytex Tinting Colors.

Boysen Acrytex Tinting Colors are essentially concentrated colors that are mixed into your Acrytex topcoat to change its color. With these colorants, you can achieve pastel to medium shades for your home. These tinting colors come in several hues and you don’t just have to use one color at a time. Mixing in two or more tinting colors creates even more color options.

With that said, whenever you’re working with colorants, you have to make sure that you follow the set ratio. The maximum ratio of Boysen paint to Boysen colorant is 1:16. This means you can mix no more than 1/4 liter or 250 mL of colorant into 1 gallon (approx. 4.5 liters) of paint.

Going beyond the recommended amount of colorant compromises the sheen, color, and performance of your coating.

Here’s Why You Need the Boysen App if You’re New to Painting | MyBoysen

If you want to get an idea of the range of paint colors you can achieve using tinting colors, check out the Boysen App. There you’ll find the Mix Your Colors tool, a handy colorant cheat sheet.

Again, tinting colors can get you light colors—but not dark ones. If you want Acrytex in darker colors, it would have to be custom-made at the Boysen factory. To do this, place a special order at a Boysen-accredited dealer. Your paint will take a bit of time to get to you so only do so if you’re in no rush.
