We’ve provided painting guides for homes in high humidity areas, coastal areas, and high vegetation areas. This time we’re tackling houses in cities.

Painting recommendations for homes in cities like Metro Manila, Cebu City, and Davao City can differ depending on the concern of the homeowner, according to Boysen experts. For city folk, particularly those who live in Metro Manila, dependable exterior waterproofing is especially helpful as several typhoons pass by the metropolis every year. Others may also be most concerned with achieving a beautiful, durable exterior that will last a long time.

Whichever you need, we’re providing separate guides for each in this blog post—Option A for waterproofing and Option B for a focus on aesthetics. Take note that these are for home exteriors!

Option A: For Dependable Waterproofing

Whether there are light showers or heavy rains, you can depend on Boysen Plexibond to protect your home. Boysen Plexibond provides excellent water resistance and eliminates water seepage by forming a seamless, non-porous, impenetrable layer that disperses water upon contact. A popular use for it among homeowners is for waterproofing firewalls.

Mixed with Portland cement, Boysen Plexibond is applied on bare concrete that has not been previously painted. Note that Boysen Plexibond has an orange peel textured finish.

After using Boysen Plexibond, you can pick from either Boysen Wallguard or Boysen Permacoat Latex as your home’s exterior paint. You can’t go wrong with either and both have their own merits.

Boysen Wallguard is highly durable and able to withstand exposure to different types of weather. Plus, it also resists dirt and dust as well as fading, cracking, and peeling which all help your paint look fresh for a long time. On top of all that, it can also combat mold and mildew growth.

Boysen Permacoat Latex is a top choice for home concrete exteriors and interiors among homeowners. It’s a premium acrylic water-based paint formulated to have excellent hiding capabilities, be tough and long-lasting, and have dirt pick-up resistance. It comes in a range of colors readily available off the shelf too.

Option B: For a Beautiful, Durable Exterior

1.  For the skimcoat, use Konstrukt Permaplast K-201 High Performance Acrylic Skimcoat

For beautiful concrete exteriors, use Konstrukt Permaplast K-201 High Performance Acrylic Skimcoat. It helps ensure your walls look as flawless as possible by correcting surface imperfections prior to the application of a primer and topcoat. And, unlike Boysen Plexibond, it has a smooth textured finish.

The Konstrukt skimcoat repairs surface defects such as cracks, gaps, and honeycombs as long as the imperfections are 2mm to 3mm in thickness. It can also improve water resistance and minimize cracking—just the thing to keep your home looking lovely for a long time.

This product is mixed with sifted cement at a 1:1 ratio and applied as a thin layer on new concrete using a steel trowel. The surface should have also already been cured for 14 to 28 days prior to application.

We won’t deny it—repainting exteriors isn’t the easiest task and the longer before we have to do it, the better. Enter Boysen Acrytex whose formulation makes it exceptionally hardy and long-lasting.

Unlike water-based paints for concrete, Acrytex is a solvent-based coating. This gives it excellent adhesion and long-term durability making it highly resistant to fading, cracking, flaking, peeling, and discoloration. In short, you won’t be painting anytime soon with this. Moreover, Boysen Acrytex also forms a watertight, non-porous film that can repel water and prevent seepage.

Boysen Acrytex is recommended to be used on new concrete or concrete previously painted with Boysen Acrytex. Boysen Acrytex comes in flat, semi-gloss, and gloss finish in white. To achieve other colors, it can be tinted using Acrytex Tinting Colors at a ratio of 1:16.

You can also opt for Boysen Permacoat Latex, which as previously mentioned, is a top choice paint for home concrete exteriors and interiors for its many qualities. Moreover, it already comes in several readily available colors. And, if you don’t find the color you want, you can instead ask for a specific color to be mixed as Boysen Permacoat paint at a Boysen Mix and Match station.3 Top Choice Paint Products for Home Concrete Exteriors | MyBoysen
