What is the Boysen App? It is an essential tool for every newbie paint DIYer and professional painter that you can keep on hand wherever you go. The Boysen App helps anyone to navigate the process of painting all the surfaces in his living space from the roof down to the floor.
If you’re new at DIY painting, the Boysen App is your ultra-reliable right hand that can support and guide you through the whole painting process. It answers questions ranging from your choice of paint color, to products available for the substrate (e.g., wood, metal, concrete, or drywall) you will be painting, and more importantly, to the product family you will need to use from surface preparation to the application of the top coat.
For the professional painter, the Boysen App is your handy assistant to remind you about such details, like the amount of Portland Cement to use for every 4 liters of Boysen Plexibond, or the ratio of colorant to paint, or the number of hours needed before you apply the next coat, to name three examples. Great work is all in the details and sometimes we need help remembering specifics.

The Boysen App is a comprehensive guide to make it easy for users to use Boysen paint and construction chemicals. Here are the main categories of the App
1. Color Collection
There are about 4,000 different paint colors available for mixing at the Boysen Mix and Match Stations. You can find them in the App. Remember though that digital swatches are only for reference. You need to see the color swatches available at the stations before having a batch mixed.

2. Products
For those who want to see the products that Boysen offers, this is for you. The list is in alphabetical order so that if you want to know more about the products that your architect/contractor/interior designer suggested, you can read up on them. That way, you are better informed about what goes into the building or renovation process of your home.
3. Choose Your Paint
Choosing a paint system depends on the substrate—concrete, wood, metal, and drywall—that you will be painting, and whether it is located in the interiors or exteriors. We added recommendations of paint systems for roofs and floors.
4. Paint Calculator
This feature computes and estimates the amount of paint (in liters) you would need for your project. It takes into account such factors like the type of substrate and your chosen Boysen product. This way, you won’t buy too much or too little paint.

5. Mix Your Colors
This is very helpful tool if you want to mix your own special color because it takes the guess work out of mixing with colorants. This tool lets you see what shades will appear when you mix different Boysen Latex Colors (colorant) and Boysen Permacoat Latex Paint together. Choose up to three colors to visualize color combinations.

Here you’ll find Boysen products categorized according to specifications. It’s especially helpful for professionals who browse by type of product. If you know what you need but don’t know which product to get, find your answers here.
7. Search
Find info fast. This is the quickest way to explore our wide offerings of products and colors. Simply type in the name of your desired product or color in the search bar and you’ll get the info you need very quickly.
8. Color Capture
Color inspiration is everywhere. Our social media pages are full of color trends, color swatches, and color palettes. But if you’d rather find the closest color matches of a wall you saw while on vacation or of an image found in a slick magazine, just snap a photo, and go to Color Capture found at the bottom part of the Boysen App. This tool will give you a selection of the closest Boysen color matches.
9. Visualizer
Now if you want to see the color you’ve chosen in your own living space, take a photo of that room. Using this tool, digitally “paint” a selected area in your chosen Boysen colors. You can choose up to three colors so you can also visualize color combinations. And all these, even before you do the actual painting!

The Development of the Boysen App
Boysen started developing the Boysen App in 2014. It was available for downloading in 2015. There was a general overall overhaul of the App in 2020. Since its launch in 2015, there have been about 25 updates since the launch.
Twenty-five updates!
Biannual updates are being done to include new and fresh content, revisions, and better interface, if available. The latest update was in December 2024, with the addition of the “Color Library Collection” to the Color Collection section.
The main challenges in making and maintaining an app are:
- Technological developments—We want to use a program that is compatible with the ever-changing operating systems of devices.
- Alignment and standardization of date—We make sure that the information we provide are accurate and reliable, and can be easily understood by users.
- Colors—Boysen continues to make new paint colors with the Color Trends so these have to be added. Also, paint swatches are checked and rechecked based on the RGB color model.
- Interface—We want to make sure that the App features are user-friendly, and that we are using the right technology to deliver the information.
As you can see, a lot of effort goes into the making and the maintenance of the Boysen App. Our technical service engineers and our communication specialists drive this process
