This is our last moodboard video this year for commercial spaces that use white as a predominant color.
White is so fitting for a café because it’s the perfect match for the products being served, whether it be the black espresso or americano, or the frothy, milky cups like flat white, cappuccino, or latte. Another reason why white is a good option to have on your coffee shop walls is because it creates a bright and serene ambience for customers who want to cocoon themselves in a relaxing vibe while enjoying their cuppas.
The Third Place for the Third Wave
Coffee shops have become one of the staple third places where Filipinos get together in lieu of public spaces like parks, libraries, and community centers since we don’t have enough of those.
The public’s coffee tastes have changed throughout the years. They range from the mass-produced commodity grade coffee like the pure instant granules and the 3-in-1 (First Wave), to the coffee from chains like Starbucks (Second Wave) where the third place social café culture started, to the shops that treat coffee as artisanal and not as a commodity (Third Wave), emphasizing single-origin beans, farm traceability, and direct trade with farmers, to the shops that are driven by science, data analytics, technology, and precision (Fourth Wave). There is a Fifth Wave but it’s too specialized for me to fathom. Besides, I am not sure if we have cafés serving Fourth and Fifth Wave coffee. Leave a comment below if you know of one.
I am quite satisfied with the Third Wave coffee shops. We’ve got many of those located throughout urban areas like this hardware store-themed coffee shop called Resonate.
The Moodboard

Boysen Permacoat Latex in the color of Just About White is used for the walls and ceilings. Boysen Quick Drying Enamel in Black is a good product to use for the chairs, table legs, and stools to give them a tough and beautiful finish. Use Boysen Oil Wood Stain in Mahogany full tone for the fluted accent wall to add warmth to the space. Adding more dynamic visual effects from terrazzo for countertops and flooring, as well as a faux-cement finish like Koral of the Konstrukt Lunar Series, brings depth and tactile character to this interior space.

Visit a Boysen Mix and Match Color Station when you’re ready to explore the products mentioned here. You can also visit our concept store in the Mall of Asia called The Color Library.
The Flat White Café Reveal
It would be nice to have something like this in the neighborhood. Having a cozy place to meet up with friends and sip our favorite brews while connecting with each other is a treat. It could also be a good place to read a book, catch up on emails, journal, people-watch, or whatever activity we need this cozy space for.

Or (and this is a great suggestion, even if I say so myself) you can also play this game and find out what paint color palette you come up with just by answering a few questions about your coffee preference.

The Three Moodboards of Commercial Spaces
As mentioned, this is the fourth moodboard we made for a commercial space. The other three are:
Woman’s boutique
Beauty clinic
Yoga studio
If those spaces are more your cup of tea (or cup of coffee), then click on the links. They’re very pretty. Promise.
We’ve got other things lined up in the next months so do subscribe to get an email from us when we come out with something new.
