The vivid blue of the Aegean Sea is reflected in the architecture of coastal places in Greece, like the whitewashed houses and blue-domed churches in Satorini. We borrowed the white and blue hues of that landscape for this stylish powder room.
The space is replete with details despite its small size, like the blue glazed porcelain tiles, white stucco, baskets, bright wood finish, clear glass, terracotta floors, and brushed gold fittings. All these weave their magic to create a clean and immaculate powder room that everyone will not hesitate to use. If you entertain at home, this is something your guests would appreciate.
The Moodboard
White is the predominant paint color in this powder room, with blue tile accents on some walls. If you want something authentic Filipino, buy handmade blue and white tiles from the oldest and largest manufacturer of cement tiles Machuca. They have plain blue tiles in different shades, and their patterned ones are also beautiful. They’re a bit pricey because they’re handcrafted, but just adding a few pieces would already create a lot of impact.
For the floor tiles, there are many available in the market that are good to use in bathrooms. Choose a dense, highly water-resistant tile that is durable against heavy foot traffic, with a slightly textured finish for good slip resistance. Bring in a sunbaked, earthy warmth with a tile that is the color of terracotta, which looks great with white walls.
To finish the powder room decor, add the final layering details like baskets, traditional handwoven textiles, earthenware jars, and warm accent lightings. For your pendant light, use a trendy woven shade made from a renewable material like rattan, seagrass, or bamboo/banana fibers. Keep in mind though that cleaning the lampshade will take a tad more effort than the usual glass or metal ones.
