Boysen Paints was founded back in 1953 originally as a repacker of paint and thinners under a different trade name. By 1960, the company acquired the license to manufacture the Boysen brand paints in the Philippines from the Walter N. Boysen Company from Oakland, California. Now, 70 years later, Boysen Paints has become a stronghold in the Philippines, not just as a manufacturer of quality paints but as a household name passed down through generations.

Truly Filipino

While the brand did originate from the United States of America, it has now become somewhat of a cultural icon here in the Philippines. You don’t just find Boysen paints on the walls of homes and establishments, but its iconic green and yellow cans are scattered throughout homes across the country.

The brand itself has evolved into something that the Filipino can proudly call their own. Upon establishing roots here in the Philippines, the American bald eagle in the original logo was changed to the national bird of the country, the Philippine monkey eating eagle. The majestic crown of feathers of our national bird now graces every single can and logo of Boysen Paints.

Did you know that Boysen Paints has also “adopted” a Philippine Eagle? Her name is Pin-Pin and she is under the care of the Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF) located in Davao. Read more about her here!
