However much we try to refute and disagree, perhaps it is in fact true that a lot of Pinoys prefer green walls for their interiors. It may or may not help that the preference, in particular, is for bright cool greens like turquoise, teal, and aquamarine. So much so that green has been called the “Pambansang Kulay ng Bahay.”
As to why Pinoys choose green for their home walls, it seems like there’s no one answer. There are some common ones though.
First is that, because the Philippines is a mostly hot and humid country, green gives a welcome respite with its cooling and refreshing look—malamig sa pakiramdam. Another is that green is the color of money and can hopefully act as a lucky charm for prosperity—pangpaginhawa sa mata at sa bulsa.
Whatever the reason may be, it seems like there’s no escaping it and no denying it anymore. The proof of the pudding is in the eating, after all.
