Pets are family members, and many are treated as if they are human kids, beloved and spoiled. An easy way to show them more love is to make a cozy pet corner for them in your home, if you haven’t done so already.

This isn’t the first time we’ve written about pets. We’ve got many articles like this one:

Pet Projects for your Pets

Location, Location, Location

Choose low traffic areas in your home to create a cozy pet corner. This may be easier for those with bigger homes. I know some friends who have a room or rooms for their pets, complete with air conditioning systems. But if your home is small, you can still make a cozy pet corner that is durable and easy to clean.

Choose an area by a wall or in a corner, preferably in a room where you stay most of the time. It’s good for you and your pet to be around each other.

Get the Right Furniture and Accessories

To make it cozy, get the right furniture and accessories. Choose a bed that fits your pet’s size. If your pet is aging, consider getting a bed that gives more support.

The space could also double as the area where you put a scratching post for cats, a dog’s blanket, or a box of toys. A friend’s cat commandeers boxes and gave his stamp of approval (and ownership) to the gift basket that arrived last Christmas.

Choose Durable Materials

Tiles are the ideal flooring material when you have pets because these are very durable and resistant to stains. Also, tiles are easy to clean.

However, if you have wooden floors, don’t despair. Boysen has a polyurethane water-based wood coating called Hudson Timbercoat, which is a low-odor, single component waterborne non-yellowing urethane coating ideal for finishes on wood and parquet floors. It combines outstanding flexibility, good abrasion resistance, and an elegant appearance. It is formulated to resist common household detergents and chemicals.

For the wall, paint it with Virtuoso Silk Touch, a breakthrough product that combines the visual elegance of matte paint with the easy-clean capabilities of gloss paints.  It is best for areas in need of stain resistant walls. It is intended for interior surfaces such as concrete and drywall substrates.
