Simply Apply After Putty
Boysen Permatex is a water-based paint specially made for creating textured finishes on interior walls and ceilings. Formulated to be able to conceal hairline cracks and minor surface imperfections, it dries to a fine, rubbery coating that doesn’t become brittle over time.
Because it is paint, simply apply Boysen Permatex after your putty using a textured roller and you’re good to go! If you want to add color, wait 12 hours and apply a colored water-based topcoat over it. Choose from Permacoat Latex, Healthy Home, or Virtuoso Silk Touch. Just to reiterate, you can leave it as is if you already like the sleek white of Permatex.
Perfect for Creating a Patterned Design
Per Boysen engineers, what makes Permatex effective and easy to use is its viscosity. Too thin or watery and the design doesn’t stick. Too thick and it becomes difficult to roll the roller over it. Boysen Permatex, on the other hand, is just right when you’re looking to use a textured or patterned roller.
This gives you the perfect opportunity to choose from the myriad of designs available in the market today. When you have Boysen Permatex, all you need is a textured roller and design of your choice.
Apply Boysen Permatex straight from the can using a textured roller. You can stop here and you’ll already have a textured finish for your surface. Alternatively, while the paint is still wet and workable, you can follow up with a patterned roller to create a design. Roll carefully in just one direction to impress the design onto your Permatex coating.
Use It for Ceilings to Cover Up Unevenness
Here’s an insider trick: you can use Boysen Permatex to “hide” surface imperfections. If you didn’t already know, Permatex is often used for ceilings to make surface imperfections less noticeable.
Wooden ceilings, in particular, are prone to unevenness or waviness. There may be several reasons for this including misalignment of the wood planks themselves during installation. If the unevenness or waviness is simply an aesthetic issue, Permatex can help cover this up as the texture becomes a point of interest that masks the imperfections. Clever, right?
To apply Boysen Permatex on wooden surfaces, first make sure that the surface is clean and dry. Hammer all nails deep enough to apply putty and sand rough wood until smooth. For primer, use Boysen Flatwall Enamel. As putty, use Boysen Plasolux Glazing Putty. Then, you can apply Boysen Permatex using a textured roller.
