As in the name, Viva Magenta is a stunning, vibrant, and attention-catching magenta hue. Pantone describes it as, “a new animated red that revels in pure joy, encouraging experimentation and self-expression without restraint.”
It’s a bold color and—one that’s not afraid to be. And we’re all on board. Even if at times it doesn’t seem so, life is indeed a celebration and Viva Magenta is a reminder of it. Magenta at Home
Though bold and bright, there’s little reason to be intimidated by magenta. It’s friendly and welcoming. It’s sociable and charming. If magenta was a person, even at first meeting they would make you feel like you had known each other for far longer.
For these reasons, magenta is perfect in areas of the home where people gather like dining areas, living rooms, and even kitchens. It’s a vibrant hue so painting it on all four walls can get too much. Instead, consider it for an accent wall or for wall art. If you’re feeling particularly adventurous though, we won’t stop you from going all out!
Getting Magenta as Paint
The Boysen paint colors above are available for mixing at Boysen Mix and Match stations (see a list of locations here). You can get them as Boysen Permacoat Latex in semi-gloss or Virtuoso Silk Touch in matte (depending on availability of product stock). Both paint products have their merits so read up on each one or ask about them at the hardware store so you get the one that’s right for you.
An additional important reminder: Make sure to ask if the color you’re having mixed can be used for both exteriors and interiors or is for interior use only. Always see the paint swatch in person before having your chosen paint color mixed as well. Colors can appear differently when viewed using a digital device and through screens.
Magenta in 2023
We may have had our fill of uncertainty in the past years. So, may 2023 be the year we emerge stronger and more courageous. Magenta is a great color to take us to better places. As Pantone puts it, Viva Magenta “welcomes anyone and everyone with the same verve for life and rebellious spirit.”
