I first heard the word Teflon while watching a certain television shopping network at home. The hosts were describing the non-stick coating ability of a pan. I was beyond amazed. Eggs just slid around the pan and spaghetti sauce can easily be removed with water. In my mind, I think, “that is a breakthrough product for us, assigned dishwashers. I was eleven, don’t judge. Learning that the same surface protector technology can be used on walls to easily wipe off stains and food splatters, now that I’m an adult, I was more thrilled than I was ten years ago.

Yes, you read that right. If you’re tired of constantly repainting your walls due to hard-to-remove stains, Virtuoso is here to help.

How does the Teflon surface protector technology work?

With its Teflon surface protector technology, oil and dirt cannot easily stick to the walls, making it easy to wipe off common everyday stains. But how does it work? Let’s get technical. Taking notes from the Virtuoso website, this is how:

Because the molecules that make up Teflon have a strong bond, other molecules are unable to stick to it. Because of this property, various dirt and stains stay on the painted substrate’s surface, making them easy to remove. Furthermore, Teflon molecules continually migrate to the surface, making the technology work for years. As a result, Virtuoso Silk Touch maintains its attractive, rich-looking finish even after many cleaning cycles.

How about its antibacterial formulation?

When the applied paint coating has fully cured, the antibacterial additive provides microscopic needles that pierce through the bacteria cell wall that comes in contact with the surface, killing it immediately. Because this action is physical rather than chemical, the bacterial mutation does not progress, thus creating a healthy living space for you and your family.

Once you are done with the surface preparation, proceed to paint. Prime first the surface with Boysen Permacoat Flat Latex B-701, EcoPrimer B-105, or Chalk Blocker B-7304 as necessary. Wait two full hours for it to dry. Use Boysen Masonry Putty B-7311 to fill shallow holes and hairline cracks on the wall. For deeper imperfections up to 2mm thick, use Boysen PermaPutty . The putty will give the surface a smooth and even canvas so it’ll be easier for you to apply the topcoat later on. Finally, get your brush, roller, or airless spray and apply at least two coats of Virtuoso Silk Touch in your chosen color, with an hour interval in between coats. Allow two more hours for drying. To reach full stain resistance, let it cure for at least 7 days, untouched.

Use Virtuoso Silk Touch as supplied but if necessary, you may thin it with not more than 1/2 Liter of clean water per 4-Liter can.
