Our beautiful country spoils us with the blues that surround us, from that blue sky above to the blue sea that stretches far away into the horizon. Go to sleep, baby. Mama will sing Of blue butterflies, and dragonfly wings. Moonlight and sunbeams, raiments so fine. Silver and gold, for baby of mine. – Kim Harrison, “Black Magic Sanction” What do you say when your child asks you, “Why is the sky blue?” NASA would answer, “Blue light is scattered in all directions by the tiny molecules of air in Earth’s atmosphere. It’s the tender moments spent together when trust weaves its magic spell to coax two people to drop the masks and open themselves up to each other. Much like a flower unfurling its petals to the sun, that’s how the fragile tendrils of an awakened heart seem. This is the walking-on-pink-clouds phase, misty, dreamy, with gentle, shimmering lights twinkling around you, outside you, inside you. Nothing is impossible: Everything is beautiful, even that long to-do list filed at the back of your head, of things that need to be done today.  You’re wrapped…

You can picture it vividly in your mind. Too vividly that you even dream about it, in fact, you can almost touch it, literally.  It’s your last thought before you doze off to la la land, and the first thing that flashes in your mind when you get back to consciousness…’ah, my dream home!’ The hubby and I were well into the  fifth year of our marriage, with our then two bundles of joy born a few years apart, and had been renting a decent bungalow near my parents’ home, when…

During the Ms. Universe event last January, Boysen trended because of the 3-episodic Koreanovela. Last weekend, it was a fast food company’s turn when their 3 hugot videos trended. Other companies have also come out with more hugot, or have reposted past hugot ads. And the public is lapping it up.

Here are five must-know hacks every DIY home decorator should keep in mind to take the pain out of painting for good. Scrape Off Paint with a Rubber Band Brushing excess paint over the rim of the can will leave a buildup of dry paint over time. Eventually, you may…

Choosing colors for your home is an exciting step in the nesting process, and is also an exercise in self-discovery. Some of us seem to be born with definite tastes; they have the edge here, and they move on to execution with ease. They are those, who in a few days or weeks, are ready to move in. However, some of us can be totally clueless which means they would probably rely on their interior designers or stylists, if they are or feel rich enough to afford one. Or they would…

I spent the last day of 2016 with a small, brand-new paintbrush and a small, brand-new can of white Boysen paint.  It was 9 am of December 31 and I told myself that, whatever happened, I had to finish painting the section of the wall that our cat, Moomin, had picked at for the last 3 years.  He probably noticed a section of paint bulging in one spot and had tried to poke at it with his claw.  After so many years of picking at it, I realized one day that the wall looked disgusting; the hole he’d made was large enough to be obvious even from outside the house.

Do you feel that soft stirring in your heart when something fresh and new is about to enter your life? Or wanting to commune with Nature in order to find your balance? Or what about the spring of hope when only optimism keeps you afloat?

There is also that much-bandied phrase of “Going Green”. It’s that hankering for a lifestyle that protects and nurtures the environment. It’s walking the path of sustainable living to preserve our natural resources for our children and those that come after them.
