Wanna paint your gates, fences, grills, doors, railings, garden furniture, and other metal surfaces, during the holidays? Watch Bea’s Painting Metal 101. Pay attention to ensure that you do your DIY project right the first time. No one needs backjobs, especially with the Christmas season just around the corner.

In fact, because Christmas is so close, it is better to get house renovation or makeover projects out of the way so that your home looks ready for the season’s celebrations. Welcoming 2024 with your dwellinglooking spiffy is also a great way to start a new year with your best foot forward.

Metal Primers and Top Coats

There are several steps before you can apply your favorite paint color on your metal surface.

Prepare the metal surface

Like any other substrate, a metal surface needs to be prepared properly before anything else. For a proper metal surface preparation, use Boysen Metal Etching Solution, which is a rust converter and a metal cleaner. So whether you’d be painting on an existing metal surface or a new one, you would need to treat the substrate with this solution.

Read this guide on how  to use the Boysen Metal Etching Solution.

Prime the metal surface

Boysen has three primers for metal surfaces:

Apply the top coat

For your topcoat (or the final coat that you will see), Boysen has two:

Both are excellent topcoats. Again, your choice would depend on the type of project you will be doing.

Wooden Substrate

This video is for metal substrates. If your project will be for wooden surfaces, this is a good video to watch.

For questions about the different Boysen products, send an email to ask@myboysen.com, or call (02) 8363-9738 local 417 to 418 during office hours to get an engineer on the line for a direct consultation at no charge.
