Many of us would love to add a few house plants around our homes, but their pristine appearance and practical qualities will only last if we ensure to care for them properly. Indeed, a house plant that’s been left rotting to death serves only to diminish the appearance of a room and offers no practical benefit. The message is clear: house plants are fantastic, but require consistent upkeep to preserve their qualities.

Here is an infographic from EZ Living Interiors which offers magnificent suggestions on the best types of house plant for various rooms within your home, along with practical tips on how best to maintain each plant. With most plants, it’s advisable to give them natural light but not leave them exposed to direct sunlight, while also watering them daily but not drenching them completely. Each plant type, though, will have its own specific do’s and don’ts when it comes to maintenance. For example, white jasmine (which is perfect for kitchens) requires full sunlight to thrive, whereas snake plants (ideal for bedrooms) can grow quite well without the need for light. Knowing the qualities of various plants will also help you to determine where best to locate them within your home.
